Samsung might launch a smartphone with a flexible display this week
News out of Korea indicates that Samsung might unveil the Galaxy Round, a smartphone with a flexible display, this week.
It has been confirmed that both South Korean giants LG and Samsung are working on devices that feature a flexible display.
However, it looks like Samsung might have the edge as Korean news sites are indicating that the manufacturer is ready to launch the device, and might do so as early as this week. The device will allegedly be called the Galaxy Round, and will be the first mobile to feature a screen that is made of a plastic substrate instead of glass. Using plastic will increase the longevity of the screen, and will also cut down manufacturing costs.
The hardware on the Galaxy Round will be similar to that of the Galaxy Note 3, which means that we will likely see either the 2.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 or the 1.9 GHz Exynos 5420. Samsung is looking to manufacture the device in limited quantities, so the price will allegedly be very high. However, it has been indicated that if the device did not have the functionality to work with the S-Pen stylus, the price could come down.
