In terms of pure specs, the Galaxy S III is definitely a step up from the iPhone 5, and that’s what Samsung is going after in their latest campaign to mock the Cupertino firm that won over $1 billion from the pride of South Korea.

First off, the ad displays the SIII’s superiority over the iPhone 5 with an SIII spec list that doubles the iPhone 5—listing off twice as many functionalities.  To end things off on the iPhone 5’s list, Samsung writes: “A totally different plug” (referencing the Lighting Connector).

Onto the Galaxy SIII’s specs, the ad conveys that Samsung either matches or outclasses the iPhone 5 in every aspect.  Ending things on the SIII’s list, Samsung writes that it has a “removable battery” on the SIII.

If the clash between Samsung and Apple was a presidential election, we can certainly see that Samsung has the upper hand in almost every aspect, but yet Apple still has the upper hand in market shares (voters).  Samsung is nailing the specs on the dot, but Apple has been more successful at ingraining into people’s head the superiority of the fruity logo.

It’s a good thing that the world of tech and gadgets mirrors a democracy—consumers (the people) get to decide what they want to buy.  Wouldn’t it be nice if people got a smartphone for every vote they make?  Perhaps that’ll be a nice incentive for people to take their civic duties more seriously.
