Samsung Ramping 256MBit GDDR3

Samsung is the world’s first semiconductor company to mass produce 256-megabit DDR3 DRAM chip that has data processing speed of 1.4-gigabit per second. The new memory chip’s graphic display performance has been improved by 40 percent compared with previous DDR DRAMs, thus they support much more realistic multimedia graphics. The chip received standardization from the JEDEC. The DDR3 chip can be applied to wide range of video appliances such as desktop PCs, notebook PCs, work stations and video game consoles. Samsung Electronics is the exclusive supplier of the 256Mb DDR3 DRAM chip to NVIDIA and ATI. Samsung plans to cement its lead in the next-generation graphic DRAM market by introducing 256Mb DDR3 DRAM with a data processing speed of 2 gigabit per second by the year’s end.
