Samsung has announced its latest line-up of Smart TVs, with additional “smart” features, improved picture quality, larger screen sizes, and digital audio advancements.

The first big change with the new products is the Smart Hub, which has been completely redesigned to feature personalised panels, easier navigation, and thumbnail previews. The panels cover: TV programme suggestions based on viewing habits; premium movies, TV shows, and VOD content recommendations; photos, videos and music from AllShare; a social panel to find content shared on various social platforms; and an apps panel for easy access to Samsung apps.

S-Recommendation with Voice Interaction is another major feature, letting users find new content easily without the use of a remote. It aggregates content form broadcast TV, premium VOD, apps, social content and even locally-stored content.

Improved picture quality is also on the agenda, with new Samsung Ultra High Definition (UHD) TVs, including the UHD TV 85S9, a whopping 85-inch model with four times the resolution of existing full high-definition displays, and 120-watt array speakers, all within a floating minimalist design for those who consider their devices part of their décor.

Samsung is also expanding its premium line of TVs in Europe, with the F8500 LED Smart TV becoming the flagship model in its premium Magnum catalogue of displays. The frame and stand are made up of a single piece of aluminium. It is powered by a quad-core processor and comes with a unique feature called Intelligent Viewing, which means the display adjusts the picture quality to the type of content displayed.

The addition of a Valve Amplifier, a world first, means the HW-F751 Soundbar provides more natural sound, with increased performance. Since it connects wirelessly it can also double as a wireless speaker for smartphones and tablets.

Samsung is also delivering on its promise to update old devices. It is offering an Evolution Kit for Series 7, 8, and 9 2012 Smart TVs, which will provide both software and hardware updates for those devices, including updating to the new Smart Hub and upgrading from dual-core processors to quad-core. The new 2013 devices will also allow Evolution Kits for the next round of updates.

The TVs will launch in the first half of the year. Pricing varies from retailer to retailer.
