ATI has signed an agreement with Samsung for “strategic cooperation” and working together on Samsung’s next-generation digital televisions.

As part of the agreement, future Samsung digital televisions will include Xilleon and Nxtwave chips from ATI, which is based here. Xilleon is a high-definition MPEG decoder chip; the NXT2003 is a single-chip ATSC/OpenCable digital demodulator chip. ATI also makes the Theater 310, a receiver IC for NTSC, ATSC and digital cable reception. The Xilleon 220 was introduced by ATI in October 2001 and has subsequently been designed into numerous digital televisions.
