Samsung’s Galaxy mini 2 leaks ahead of MWC

Not everyone can afford – or want for that matter – a high-end smartphone and it looks like Samsung is getting ready to unveil a new affordable model which is expected to be announced around the Mobile World Congress at the end of this month. The new model is the Galaxy mini 2, or S6500.

Not everyone can afford – or want for that matter – a high-end smartphone and it looks like Samsung is getting ready to unveil a new affordable model which is expected to be announced around the Mobile World Congress at the end of this month. The new model is the Galaxy mini 2, or S6500.

Although fairly basic compared to the latest generations of smartphones, the Galaxy mini 2 would've been a high-end model only a couple of years ago. It sports an unspecified 800MHz processor, 3GB of built in storage, a 3.3-inch HVGA (480×360) resolution display, a 3Megapixel camera and HSDPA connectivity at speeds of up to 7.2Mbps.

The Galaxy mini 2 will be running Android 2.3 which again is better than a lot of entry level smartphones and it will apparently have coloured backs, as the single image leaked of the new handset sports an orange back and a typical black fascia. That's all the information that's available for the time being, although we shouldn't have to wait long considering the February launch date given.
