04 Samsungs Galaxy S III reported to be a slender 7mm thin

The latest piece of information we're hearing about Samsung's highly anticipated Galaxy S III is in regards to its thickness. Supposedly the phone will be the second thinnest to date at just 7mm thick – only .3mm thicker than the world's thinnest smartphone recently announced from Huawei, the Ascend P1 S, and just slightly edging out Motorola's RAZR XT910 with its 7.1mm waistline.

These fresh rumours that are circulating about the shape of the device also make mention of a similar shaped camera 'hump' as found on the S II. And speaking of which, the S III's camera is apparently going to sport an 8 or possibly 12 MP rear camera along with a 2 MP front facing sensor.

What we're also lead to believe at this stage is that the phone will sport a quad-core chipset with 2GB of RAM and a 4.6-inch Super AMOLED Plus HD display. Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) would of course be the order of the day, with a side dish of Samsung's own TouchWiz UI layered over.

We're still waiting to get some sort of substantial release date on the S III series after hearing all kinds of dates being thrown around over the past month or two. I think it's safe to say we can expect it within the first half of this year however, as indicated by Samsung themselves when they confirmed the phone would not be making its debut at MWC later this month.
