1 Sapphire Atlantis Radeon 9600 Pro Review

Introduction:

Probably the most overlooked segment
in the ongoing graphic card battles between ATI
and NVIDIA in the graphic card industry is the mainstream
– enthusiast market, where the price / performance
ratio is the key factor in consumer purchases. This
market is not only very highly fought for, but it
is among the most lucrative for the graphic card
companies.

With both ATI and
NVIDIA already a
few months into their launches of the ATI Radeon
9600 Pro and GeForce FX 5600 / 5200 Ultra graphics
cards, we are seeing more and more products based
on these graphic cards appear in store shelves all
around the world. On ATI’s side, Sapphire, one of
their largest add-in board partners is of course
at it again with their rendition of ATI’s Radeon
9600 Pro, the Sapphire Atlantis Radeon 9600 Pro.

We’ve seen Sapphire come full circle
and produce many some excellent boards in months
past, all of which were based on ATI’s proven 0.15µ
GPU’s, with the 9600 Pro being the first 0.13µ
graphic card that Sapphire has taken to market.

So how will the new comer to the 0.13µ
pack fare against rival NVIDIA GeForce 5600 and
5200 Ultra graphics cards? Let’s take a look…
