Sapphire Radeon X1800XL 256MB

We go on to test out the X1800XL against its direct competitor,
the 7800GT.

Test setup:

CPU

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ @ 2500MHz (278×9)

Motherboard
DFI LAN Party UT nF4 SLI-D
Memory
2 x 512MB Geil One DDR Memory
Video
Card

Sapphire X1800XL (500/1000MHz)

XFX 7800GT @ ref. clocks (400/1000MHz)
Power
Supply
OCZ PowerStream 520w
Storage
Seagate Barracuda 160GB SATA Hard Disk

** We downclocked the XFX 7800GT to NVIDIA 7800GT reference speeds
to ensure a fair test. We used the Catalyst 5.10a beta drivers for the X1800XL
and 78.01 Forceware drivers for the 7800GT.

We take a look at 3DMark03 and 3DMark05 performance first.

In terms of 3D Mark performance, the X1800XL loses out to the 7800GT in 3D
Mark 03 but surpasses the 7800GT in 3D Mark 05. Not a bad score for the X1800XL
being still on early and beta drivers.
