Geared at enterprise environments, Seagate has unveiled its new solid state hybrid drive.
Seagate unveiled today what it claims to be the “world’s fastest” enterprise-class hard drive, the Seagate Enterprise Turbo SSHD. The company claims it will offer three times the performance over existing 15,000 RPM drives.
“Typically the most demanding mission-critical applications for 15K drives have improved performance by compromising on capacity and cost per GB,” Seagate executive vice president, Rocky Pimentel said in a statement. “With the Enterprise Turbo SSHD, we deliver a no-compromise drive that provides high-speed performance while enabling customers to leverage all of Turbo’s capacity.”
Seagate says the drive will be available as an option on the IBM server X series.
