Several Facebook Apps Transmit Users Information
Privacy remains a major issue for Facebook to tackle, as several apps on the popular social network site have been found to leak user personal information to advertising and Internet tracking companies. If you are an avid user of Facebook apps, perhaps it would be wise to spend some time looking through your privacy settings and decide which unused apps to remove.
If you are active on Facebook and enjoy using the various apps (including games), do note. According to various news sources, several popular Facebook apps have been found transmitting users personal information to third-party advertising and Internet tracking companies. Facebook is working to remedy the problem, even though the leak was said to be unintentional.
In a statement, Facebook said there is "no evidence that any personal information was misused or even collected as a result of this issue."
With more than 500 million users on the social network sharing their information, it is a challenge for Facebook to handle the privacy issue. Users can control what they want to show including friends list, photos, work information and e-mail addresses, and that the apps they want to use, they are allowing them to access their private information. The risk of such leak will continue to happen if you are not careful or unsure what you want to share.
