The right-oriented mouse packs a total of six buttons, in addition to tracking resolution adjustments. These include the three main buttons (left, middle, right), two macro buttons at the thumb-rest, and two side-scroll/macro buttons that can be used by tilting the scroll-wheel. Macros can be assigned by the included software, up to five macro layouts can be locally-stored on the mouse, thanks to its 256 KB memory.

Special attention is given to on-the-fly tracking resolution adjustments, with the designers spending not just three buttons on it (increase, decrease, reset), but also a tiny backlit LCD display that updates you on the tracking resolution in DPI. Speaking of resolution, the DarkGlider is driven by an Avago ADNS-9500 LaserSensor, with  up to 6,000 DPI tracking resolution, with 11,750 FPS, which provide for 30 G acceleration, 1 ms response time, and 5 mm lift-off.

The belly of the beast reveals that Sharkoon opted for five interchangeable feet (selectable between ceramic and teflon), which maintain the right amount of drag for the desired responsiveness. Sensor resolution and surface friction aren't the only two factors that can let you customize the DarkGlider for your gaming scenario, The mouse also comes with adjustable weight. Its underside tucks away a rack with four compartments that hold 3.1 and 3.7 g weights. In addition to its dry weight, you can customize the DarkGlider to weigh up to 150 g.
