Infamous talent judge Simon Cowell is teaming up with singer Will.i.am for a technology version of the popular X Factor show, where the duo will look for the next Bill Gates.

The revelation came from the Black Eyes Peas singer at a technology event in London, where he said X Factor For Tech, the tentative title, will allow young people to express themselves via science and maths, a far cry from the usual talent-hunting television.

Since there will be no performance to do, the show will be very different to the traditional X Factor, more like Dragons' Den, where people pitch ideas or products to venture capitalists, but aimed squarely within the technology sector.

Will.i.am., who also represents Intel as Director of Creative Innovation, believes the show could produce a lot of jobs, given the importance of technology in today's world. If a new Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Eric Schmidt, or any number of top technology gurus, were found, the effect on the industry could be monumental, especially if Cowell and company are to invest heavily in the new business of the talent show's winner.

No details are confirmed, but the show is expected to be filmed in the UK.
