Single Slot G92 Card Possible Thermal Issues

Reported by on Thursday, October 4 2007 3:15 pm

INQ talks about the thermal problems of G92 and it seems that the single slot cooling solution is causing some headaches to Nvidia. We heard that Nvidia has recently put out an urgent request to chassis makers to send in their cases for thermal analysis which is assumed to test G92 in various configurations. According to INQ, the OEM partners were also told to send over their systems for thermal analysis asap. The 17x17mm die size of 65nm G92 seems pretty manageable on the thermal aspect but it might be an issue if it is on a single slot form factor.
