With M1 Limited announcing yesterday that the new iPad will hit the stores on 16 March, it is only expected that the other two telecommunication companies, SingTel and StarHub, would follow shortly with their own announcements. However, both SingTel and StarHub will not have the iPad launch at their retail stores past midnight like M1, so do save the hassle of queueing.
16 March is the date when Apple's new iPad goes on retail in Singapore. While M1 has announced that the mobile device will go on retail at 12.01am at their Paragon flagship store, SingTel and StarHub have a different approach. For StarHub, the new iPad will be available at four StarHub shops from 8am on 16 March, namely Bugis Junction, Marina Bay Link Mall, OUB Centre and Plaza Singapura. Customers can also purchase the device from all other StarHub Shops and selected authorised dealers across Singapore at their usual business hours. More details at http://www.starhub.com/ipad
SingTel, on the other hand, announced that customers can order online from 12.01am on 16 March, and free home delivery will be offered. The free home delivery will only be given on a first-come-first-served basis, though the best thing is through the online order, you can select from the various time slots for delivery; the earliest time slot is 3am on 16 March. Of course, if you do not want to order online, the new iPad will be available at all SingTel Shops islandwide from 8:30am on 16 March, and at selected SingTel Exclusive Retailers during normal operating hours. This simply means that for SingTel and StarHub customers who want to be the first to get the new iPad will not need to wait and queue till 12.01am at their respective stores. But in terms of price plans, SingTel and M1 are offering the same S$40 monthly subscription, while StarHub is offering S$41.30 monthly subscription for 24-month contract. Pricing for the 16GB iPad (Wi-Fi + 4G) is S$399; 32GB iPad (Wi-Fi + 4G) is S$499 and 64GB iPad (Wi-Fi + 4G) is S$599 for the three telco operators. However, note that the new iPad will only work with 3.5G connectivity offered by SingTel, M1 and StarHub, but not the local LTE connection.
