The limelight on AMD Athlon 64 PCIe chipsets has been around with the NVidia’s nForce 4 Ultra and especially the SLi enabled chipset.

Now, for something different, a PCIe solution from VIA. The VIA K8T890, supporting Socket 939 processors, and also, PCIe interface. Here we have it, the Soltek SL-K890-939, the most bang for buck AMD PCIe solution in our opinions.

The board itself. Signature purple and other bright colours for RAM and PCI
slots. A refereshing look as compared to our usual black, or white compoments.

A picture of the new chipset. Made pretty recently, on week 49 of 2004.

The new southbrige, the VIA VT8237R.

The PCIe slots. 3 PCIe X1, and a PCIe X16 for graphics. Now, Soltek had also
integrated an onboard LED for troubleshooting purposes. A neat feature, after
the success from EPox, and ABIT.

Not available as of now, but should be priced relatively low, at the sub $ 200
mark.
