Remember those old Walkmans you used to lug around everyday to satisfy your daily dose of music while on the move? Well, the good news is that Sony has clearly got no intention in letting such a popular product line fade into history, for the Japanese company has just announced the availability of four new Walkman series of portable media players for consumers, namely the A, E, S and W-series.

Sony has announced the availability of four new products for its Walkman line of portable media players in Europe, the Walkman NWZ-A860, NWZ-S760, NWZ-E460 and NWZ-W260. According to the company, the new products have been specially designed to ensure that consumers can "treat themselves to a richer and more satisfying" media playback experience this season.
Sony Walkman NWZ-A860
Touted as a portable media player designed to provide the "ultimate audiophile sound" and "take premium sound to new heights", the Sony Walkman NWZ-A860 sports what Soiny calls its S-Master MX Digital Amplifier, which is reportedly capable of reducing noise levels and distortion. This supposedly helps to ensure that users can be assured that their favourite audio tracks will "sound better than ever: when played back on the NWZ-A860.

In addition, Sony has confirmed that the NWZ-A860 portable media player will feature a 2.8-inch LCD touchscreen which is bright enough to give users a "superb view of their photos, video and album artwork", while the inclusion of an "intuitive new interface" will allow for an even more satisfying user experience.
Sony Walkman NWZ-S760
The Sony Walkman NWZ-S760 comes preloaded with four of Sony's Clear Audio Technologies. which reportedly helps to ensure high quality sound on the NWZ-S760 portable media player, although the device's real draw stems from the fact that it boasts built-in support for wireless audio playback via Bluetoooth connectivity with varius Bluetooth-capable devices, such as Sony's own MDR-NWBT10 headphones.

In addition to the NEZ-S760's built-in support for audio playback via Bluetooth, Sony has also confirmed that the device is capable of an extremely long battery life that tops out at up to 50 hours under continous audio playback, or up to 10 hours for video playback.
Sony Walkman NWZ-E460
Essentially the "lesser" counterpart to the aforementioned NWZ-S760 portable media player, the Sony Walkman NWZ-E460 sports near identical hardware speficiations save for one: it lacks built-in support for wireless audio playback via Bluetooth. This means that users are restricted to the use of cabled earphones, headphones or speakers for their audio playback needs on the NWZ-E460.

That being said, the NWZ-E460 shares the same generous battery life as the aforementioned S760; as such, it is capable of providing an uptime of up to 50 hours of continous audio playback on a single charge, with this amount being shortened to 10 hours if the device is being used for video playback.
Sony Walkman NWZ-W260
Claimed by Sony to boast a weight reduction of 25% over its predecessor, the new Sony Walkman NWZ-W260 rugged portable MP3 player reportedly sports a "more comfortable fit" and is said to be "perfect for sports and active lifestyles". Last but definitely not least, Sony claims that the NWZ-W260 portable audio player is capable of supplying up to 8 hours of continous audio playback on a fully charged battery, a number which is reportedly "enough for the longest workout".

The technical specifications for the aforementioned Walkman portable media players are as follow. No prices for the devices has been announced by Sony at this point of time.
