Sony has unveiled its latest BDP-S765 Blu-ray player for home theatre enthusiasts seeking an unforgettable cinematic experience. It features the latest in cutting-edge technologies like the newly developed HD Reality Enhancer and Super Bit Mapping that can deliver even sharper, more vibrant images from today’s Blu-ray disc movies.

The BDP-S765, which is fully BD-Live capable, features an Ethernet connection that allows users to connect to the Internet via their existing service provider to access BD-Live features and firmware updates. Additional BD Live content can be downloaded and saved onto an optional USB flash storage device connected to the proviso external flash memory port. In addition to these features, the flagship Sony BDP-S765 Blu-ray player will also decode the latest advanced audio codecs, offer 7.1 channel analogue audio outputs, Precision Cinema HD up-scaling, and an integrated headphone jack for virtual surround sound. This simulates the sound of a multi-channel home theatre setup when using a pair of headphones.

The player comes equipped with HD Reality Enhancer, which continually analyzes the original source data, sharpening edges and enhancing detail, while reducing the effects of film grain to create a highly realistic display. This is complemented by Super Bit Mapping for video, which ensures incredibly natural colour reproduction. All of this adds up to a stunningly smooth and pristine Full HD picture. The BDP-S765 also supports Deep Color video output and AVCHD discs encoded with x.v.Color™ (xvYCC) technology.

For consumers with an extensive DVD library, the BDP-S765 also incorporates Sony’s Precision Cinema HD Upscale technology that converts standard-definition signals (480i) to near HD quality. It also offers 7.1 channel Dolby® TrueHD, Dolby® Digital Plus, DTS® -HD Master Audio, and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio decoding and bit-stream output, as well as analog 7.1 channel for legacy AV receivers and decoders.

The BDP-S765 features a front USB port for viewing photos from your USB flash memory device or directly from a digital camera. It also features a Quick Start mode which improves boot-up times to approximately six seconds- a speed that is unrivalled in the market today. The player also features Sony’s XrossMediaBar™ (XMB) for easy menu navigation, Sony’s BRAVIA Sync™ for Theatre that connects select Sony home theater and television products for easy operation and a backlit remote control.

The BDP-S765 Blu-ray player consumes only 0.18W in standby mode and recyclable corrugated cardboard is used as packaging materials for the unit. The BDP-S765 Blu-ray player is available at S$799 (inclusive of GST).
