Sony Ericsson handsets this year will get Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade

Sure, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich may be out, and the Samsung GALAXY Nexus would be the first smartphone to get it. But Sony Ericsson has revealed on their Facebook Page that their Xperia smartphones launched this year, will also get the Android 4.0 update.

Good news for Sony Ericsson phone owners. For those of  you who have purchased the smartphones this year, the company has announced that the new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade will be available in the near future. According to a Facebook post on Sony Ericsson Netherlands, the phone maker will be upgrading all of its 2011 Android devices to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in 2012. Though no specific dates have been mentioned.

The translated dutch post reads, "We are planning for the 2011 Xperia smartphone portfolio after Gingerbread 2.3.4. to be upgraded to the next Android platform. The official Sony Ericsson statement on the software upgrades will be published by my international colleagues, on our blog: http://blogs.sonyericsson.com". The Sony Ericsson smartphones that would most likely get the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update include the Xpreia Play, neo and neo V, Xperia Mini Pro, Xperia Arc, Xperia Arc S and Xperia Ray.
