This afternoon, Sony Ericsson announced three new smartphones which come in the form of Yendo, Cedar and X8. All three phones are going to be available in Q3 this year. On top of that, the maker also announced Android 2.1 update for Xperia X10, X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro.
“We introduced Vivaz in February, followed by the Xperia X10 in March/April, and we have just shipped the X10 mini and the Vivaz Pro. Next month we are going to ship the X10 mini pro. We are very excited with our new portfolio into the different market.” says Hirokazu Ishizuka, Corporate Vice President, Head of APAC Region for Sony Ericsson.
“In Asia, the Xperia X10 is very successful. In Thailand, the Xperia X10 contribute to number one market share, and in Japan, the Xperia X10 is now outselling the iPhone. We are very pleased with the results” remarks Ishizuka.
Steve Walker, Head of Product Marketing for Sony Ericsson, talks about bringing communication and entertainment all in one place. Walker also introduced the three new phones for today’s event – Xperia X8, Yendo and Cedar.
The Sony Ericsson Yendo claims to be the first full touch Walkman music phone that runs on the company’s proprietary OS. It fits right in your hand and has four corner UI to access your Walkman music player, contacts, keypad etc, with just one touch.
The Cedar is a candy bar phone, and is the new addition to GreenHeart family. It provides easy access to your favorite social networks and comes with a 2-megapixel camera for photo capture.
