box Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc Review: Super slim smartphone with great multimedia experience

Our review unit comes in a standard retail box with the front and rear of the box shown in the above picture. The one we have is a midnight blue, though if you don't really like this color, the other choice is the misty silver. Apparently, there is a Sakura Pink version of the Xperia Arc, though that one is only available in Japan.

The accessories include the microUSB cable, power adapter, earpiece, user manual and FCC Statement – Declaration of Conformity. According to Sony Ericsson, a screen protector and the HDMI cable should also be bundled together with the phone. Just not our review unit unfortunately.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is very slim, measuring just 8.7mm thin. On top of that, it has a large 4.2-inch TFT LCD touchscreen display that supports 854×480 pixel resolution. At first glance, the Xperia Arc resembles its Xperia 10 siblings with the similar three buttons placed below the screen. However, the buttons are slightly different – back, home and menu (from left to right). The phone also feels very plasticky, though it is extremely lightweight, weighing just 117g.

There's nothing much you can find on the left of the Xperia Arc, except for a 3.5mm audio jack to connect your earpiece or earphones.

On the right are the camera mode/shutter button (which is unusually tiny), volume controls that are also the camera zoom controls, and the microUSB connector.

The power button and the HDMI connector can be seen at the top of the phone. Do be careful not to plug your microUSB cable to the HDMI connector even though it resembles the microUSB port

Flipping the phone to the rear, we spotted a 8.1-megapixel camera with auto-focus and LED flash. Sony Ericsson has placed the Sony Exmor R mobile CMOS sensor into the camera that allows users to capture high-quality movies and still images even under low light.

The back cover isn't too hard to remove, and here, you'll find the Lithium-ion battery (rated 3.7V 1500mAh 5.6Wh), the SIM and microSD card slots above the battery compartment. The manufacturer has included an 8GB microSD card for the phone.
