For those of us who want to enjoy 4K movie screening, we could go to cinemas like Golden Village Vivocity that are showing that. Well, it looks like Sony Electronics Asia Pacific is bringing the experience to homes when the company unveiled the world's first 4K home theatre projector in Singapore today. The VPL-VW1000ES is not only 3D-capable but is also capable of displaying stunning images.
The VPL-VW1000ES is Sony's flagship home theatre projector that incorporates the new SXRD 4K panel, which can produce outstanding contrast and 2,000 ANSI-lumens brightness. It boasts an incredible 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast when combined with Sony's Iris3 technology, and can produce screen sizes of up to 200-inches (diagonally) for superb cinematic viewing in the comforts of the home.
On top of that, the VPL-VW1000ES features Sony’s exclusive Super Resolution 4K upscaler “Reality Creation” that enhances all content – standard definition or high definition, 2D or 3D – to higher definition true 4K (DCI Format: 4096 x 2160p) picture signals. This means that even if you are playing Blu-ray content at 1080p, you can choose to upscale the resolution to 4K without significant loss in details. It also comes with a built-in IR transmitter for Full 4K 3D that drives the projector’s TDG-PJ1 USB-chargeable active shutter 3D glasses for an immersive 3D experience.
For a 4K home theatre like this one, you can expect it to have a hefty price tag. Yes, the Sony VPL-VW1000ES 4K home theatre projector has an SRP of S$31,999 (before GST), and will be available in Singapore in March 2012.
"Sony has delivered professional 4K digital projector globally to cinemas. Our overall shipping quantity for 4K digital cinema projectors have reached 10,000 units.
