Sony Singapore unveiled its new VAIO lineup earlier today. There are four models, namely the VAIO X series, VAIO L series, VAIO CW and VAIO NW.
In short, the VAIO X is Sony’s thinnest and lightest VAIO. Targeted at mobile professionals, it weighs just 655g and has a 13.9mm thin, yet rigid chassis.
The VAIO L is Sony’s first touch-screen All-in-one VAIO PC. Sporting a full HD 24-inch screen and a Blu-Ray drive, it’s tempting to get one for your living room.
Son’ys VAIO CW and VAIO NW are their design-oriented notebooks. Equipped with the latest Intel Centrino 2 technology (Intel Core 2 Duo, PM45 Express chipset, WiFi 5100 wireless-N), fast DDR3 memory and a pretty juicy NVIDIA GeForce GT 230M GPU with 512MB video memory, the CW packs some muscle for gaming. While the NW is positioned as a desktop-replacement with its configuration of Intel’s Core 2 Duo processors and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 GPU.
And yes, all these models will come with Microsoft Windows 7 pre-installed.
Read on for more information on each of the above-mentioned VAIO machines’ (from trimmed down press releases).
(Singapore, 8 October 2009) – Revolutionising the mobile PC category once more, Sony Singapore unveiled the VAIO X Series today. Featuring an unbelievably light and thin chassis, long-lasting battery life, together with wireless connection and reliability, it is the definitive notebook for business professionals on the go.
Weighing a mere 655g, the VAIO X Series is the lightest VAIO notebook designed among notebook PCs with screen size of 10-inch and above. Approximately the width of a mobile phone measuring just 13.9mm from all angles, the VAIO is made to be breathtakingly thin, maximising user comfort when it is being carried around. On top of that, users who enjoy working on the notebook an entire day without recharging will be pleased with the introduction of the VAIO X Series’ 8-cell battery option, which allows the notebook to last up to 16 hours of consecutive usage.

Boasting true mobility with the latest wireless connection, VAIO X Series is the brand’s first 3G notebook model, equipped with WWAN for users to stay connected to high-speed Internet while on the go. Enhancing user experience, the VAIO features high quality 11.1-inch-wide, 1366 x 768 pixel resolution, LED-backlit display, comfortable typing 17mm pitch isolation keyboard, and convenient multi-finger gesture touch pad for easy flick and zoom navigation. Furthermore, various interface such as VGA and LAN port and built-in webcam are integrated to increase usability in various business contexts. Combining the latest Intel Atom Processor Z550 at 2GHz, a solid state drive, and Windows 7 OS, the VAIO X provides exceptional performance for business users on the go.
Built to last, the groove running along the outer edge of the VAIO X’s LCD and palmrest also known as the Rigid Arc structure, is not just a design element but a carefully structured detail to minimise distortion from external pressures. In addition, the housing of the VAIO is made out of carbon, and the palmrest is moulded out of a one-piece aluminium plate to further increase the notebook’s toughness. Through intensive durability tests such as the 150kgf pressure-vibration test, the VAIO is thoroughly tested for quality assurance and ready to perform in active real-life situations.

The VAIO X is available in limited edition Gold and Black colours. Placing emphasis on the premium branding, a new rose gold VAIO logo is exclusively imprinted onto the limited edition Gold version. Finishing the luxurious touch are optional accessories for the VAIO X Series that include a plush, genuine leather case and a stylish new wireless mouse in black.
The VAIO X Series will be available in Singapore from end October 2009.
