Sony Singapore today unveiled their new NEX-5 and NEX-3 which claim to be the world’s smallest and lightest interchangeable lens digital cameras. Both cameras will be available this month with competitive price tags. Read on for more info.
Taisuke Nakanishi, Managing Director of Sony Singapore, gave the opening speech and unveiled the company’s new products.
“Sony has developed this new range of digital cameras that can capture quality images, whether you are professional or amateur photographers. For users who are new to the extensive manual controls on a camera, the NEX-5 or NEX-3 offers a sleek form factor and extremely user-friendly techniques for you to capture professional quality photos. For experienced photographers, the lightweight cameras offer digital SLR performance in a camera that they can easily carry with them all the time when they are on the move” says Nakanishi.
Toru Katsumoto, Senior General Manager, Imaging Divi.3, Personal Imaging and Sound Business Group for Sony Corporation, mentions the company forsees new opportunities and possibilities in the new segment that is between digital compact and digital SLR cameras.
Jacqueline Lim, Product Manager, Alpha Product Marketing, Digital Imaging Division of Sony Singapore, talks about the company’s target to achieve 25% unit market share in Singapore in the digital SLR and Interchangeable lens camera segments. Lim also explains some of the features of the NEX-5 and NEX-3 cameras such as Sweep Panorama and Full HD movie capability.
The NEX-5 has well-laid controls, 3-inch tiltable screen and weighs a mere 229g.
Being an Interchangeable lens camera means you can use various lens for different use. At press time, there are 18-55 and 16F28 Pancake lenses for both the NEX-5 and NEX-3.
