Sony unveils Walkman W Series MP3 player

Sony Walkman W Series MP3 player

Today, Sony Singapore announces their latest W Series Walkman MP3 player which boasts a wireless headphone design that makes it ideal for users who want hands-free convenience while exercising or other activities.

Sony Singapore held a media event at the Kallang Leisure Park to announce their new Walkman® W Series MP3 player. The 2GB MP3 player weighs 35g and features a wireless headphone design that makes it convenient for users who are exercising or doing outdoor activities such as cycling or rock climbing.

The MP3 player has a newly developed ZAPPIN navigation and Jog Dial for intuitive operation. By pressing and holding the jog dial, it activates the ZAPPIN playback feature which play the main chorus portion of each song in your music library. The Jog Dial also provides play, stop and skip track functionality easily.

Another good feature of the W Series is its long battery life. If you are rushing for your appointment and the MP3 player is running out of battery power, simply charge it for approximately 3 minutes to get up to 90 minutes of music playback; A 1.5 hour charge claims to provide up to 12 hours of music playback.

Comes in Black, Pink, Violet, Green and White, the new Walkman® W series NWZ-W202 will be available in Singapore in the 3rd week of April 2009 with a retail price of SGD129 (inclusive of GST).

Here is a closer look at the right earphone. There is the mini USB port, volume control, reset pinhole and the Jog Dial for the typical playback operation. A magnetic strip is also at the edge of the earphones that attach both together (like how the five colour earphones are positioned in the first picture). The earbud fits nicely to the earhole and provides decent noise cancellation, though the entire piece protrudes out quite prominently when wore.

This is how it looks like when you wear the Sony Walkman W Series MP3 player.
