The Sony Xperia Z1’s press image has been leaked ahead of the device’s announcement at the IFA event two weeks from now showing the rumored metal chassis and the phone’s HD screen.
Sony’s Xperia Z1 will be available in black, white as well as purple color variations, and the design of the device looks very similar to that of the original Xperia Z. A key difference in the design of the Xperia Z1 from the Xperia Z is the metal frame that runs along the sides of the device, although whether it is an aesthetic change or if the metal frame will double as an antenna is not known at this stage. An image from Sony’s twitter account yesterday ago confirmed that the Xperia Z1 will also be water resistant.
The Xperia Z1 will likely feature a 5-inch full-HD screen. A distinguishing facet of this mobile is the rumored 20-megapixel CyberShot camera at the back that features Sony’s G Lens and a 1/2.3 sensor. From the leaks, it looks like the Xperia Z1 will feature a new camera UI along with other UI enhancements. Other internal hardware will be in the form of a Snapdragon 800, which means a 2.2 GHz Krait 400 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU. The Xperia Z1 will also feature 2 GB RAM, 16 GB ROM, 3,000 mAh battery and will come with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.
The Xperia Z1 will be announced at Sony’s event at the IFA in Berlin on September 4th.
