Gaming giant Sony was at CES 2013, and during a press conference Sony's President and CEO Kaz Hirai responds to questions about the upcoming PlayStation 4.

Sony Computer Entertainment was one of the few major gaming industry giants present at this year's Consumer Electronics Show, as Apple and Microsoft both skipped the annual electronics showcase.

During their official press conference, Sony CEO and President Kaz Hirai explored the new path that the company would follow in the way of mobile phones and TV's, leaving gaming news on the back burner.

Even still, Kaz Hirai couldn't avoid the burning questions about Sony's upcoming next-gen console, and in the Q&A section held during the conference he addressed the questions about the PlayStation 4.

Here is a selection of his responses:

"We’re very happy with the way that the PlayStation 3 has grown over the years. Obviously a lot of interaction with the PlayStation Vita as well,” Hirai stated.  ”All of the gaming fans out there, you probably know that we don’t talk about future generation technologies until we’re ready to launch it in a big way.”

Hirai's response to being put on the spot with an abrupt and unplanned question about the PlayStation 4 is pretty much standard and what everyone would expect. As Hirai said, Sony is well-known for keeping tight-lipped about upcoming gaming tech.

We may learn more about the PS4 during E3 2013, this year's biggest gaming event, as industry analysts believe that next-gen consoles will be revealed this year.
