Samsung has a huge budget and will spend a mountain of cash on promoting its products, but things can get ugly and embarrassing when the celebrity promoting the products is passively promoting a non-Samsung product.  David Ferrer, a professional tennis player, recently tweeted out a pro-Samsung message to his 350K+ followers, but did so using his iPhone.

This weekend, the South Korean tech giant is sponsoring the Mutua Madrid Open tennis tournament, and it’s using this prime opportunity to promote and sell the Samsung brand to the masses.  So one can only chuckle when the Samsung-backed sports celebrity tweeted that he was using “S Health on his new #GalaxyS4” from his iPhone.

BlackBerry’s Alicia Keys also pulled a similar stunt when she tweeted some Drake lyrics from her iPhone while being sponsored by the Canadian handset maker.

Samsung has a lot of marketing dollar, but sometimes even a hoard of cash can’t wipe away a person’s brand loyalty or product preference.
