SPUD: A Foldable High-Resolution 24” Display

On this week’s ‘Crowdfunding Campaign Of The Week’, we feature SPUD – Spontaneous Pop-Up Display. As its name suggests, SPUD is a foldable, portable and high-resolution display which mirrors your Smartphone, tablet or laptop views on a large 24” display. If you have ever wanted to blow up your Smartphone or tablet display to share it with your friends or colleagues at a camp or office, this innovation has your name all over it!

Measuring just 17 x 5.5 x 19 cm and weighing less than 900g, SPUD is foldable just like an umbrella and will fit easily into any bag. Tapping on customised optics and Digital Light Processing technology, it produces sharp images of 1280 x 720 resolution on its unbreakable screen. Speaking of its screen, it is virtually unbreakable and unchippable unlike conventional screens because it is made of flexible polymer – not glass or plastic! Better yet, when it gets dirty, just throw it in the wash with your laundry and it is clean. Easy peasy.

To mirror or project an image or video and operate your SPUD is simple and completely no frills. Just connect your device to SPUD to your device via HDMI or Wi-Fi and you are good to go. Built for both outdoor and indoor use, calibrate the brightness of your SPUD with the Brightness Dial according to your environment – 350nits to 785nits. Similar to a television set, SPUD needs some power in order to work. Either plug in a 12V power cable to enjoy it for hours on end, or tap on its in-built battery which can last up to 10 hours on a single charge dependent on use.

Take SPUD to the park for a movie with friends outdoors or even as an upgrade for your monitor at work or home! It takes care of the main problems of displays being bulky and heavy, while still being somewhat affordable and easy to use. Additionally, SPUD doubles up as a nifty portable battery pack with its USB port just in case your electronic device runs out of battery while mirroring a display.
