Square ENIX releases Japan-exclusive trailers of Final Fantasy XIII sequels
Final Fantasy Versus XIII
Originally unveiled in E3 back in 2006, Final Fantasy Versus XIII follows Noctis Lucis Caelum, the last surviving heir to a dynasty that controls magic crystals. Not surprisingly, Noctis’s duty is to defend these crystals from the likes of undesirable characters.
This is an updated trailer with actual game play footage. And from the looks of it, the cross breed of real-time action and strategy looks promising. Moreover, the addition of some third person shooting elements is refreshing; a welcomed break from the usual elements and aspects gamers have been used to from the Final Fantasy series.
Apparently, developers are working on a combat system for Noctis that involves the strategic placement of his eleven swords, where gamers are able to warp to and fro from each sword. Not exciting enough for you? Final Fantasy Versus XIII also features an open world to roam around in, something they haven’t done since Final Fantasy X. Moreover, this game promises added realism and a darker story.
If you haven’t seen this, you should right now.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 is currently slated for a 2011 release, whilst Final Fantasy Versus XIII’s release date has yet to be officially confirmed.
