SRS Audio Sandbox Technology

SRS has developed an “audio sandbox” that takes the hardware acceleration the company helped develop and replaces it with a software application. “The Soundbox is one of the very cool audio enhancement technologies for the PC because it delivers enhancement across the board,” said Benjamin Grier, product marketing manager for SRS Labs. Users can choose the type of sound they want enhanced as in movies or music, and then choose the method of delivery such as ear buds or laptop speakers. SRS uses cyclical acoustic technology — which it calls sound spatialization — that allows users to feel as though the sound is coming from speakers that are much further apart to make the sound wider and more three-dimensional. The Audio Sandbox is free to try, but costs $ 19.95 for the full version.
