Apple’s iPad Air has been mocked by both Nokia and Microsoft recently with comparative ads and now Amazon joins the chain-yanking campaign with a commercial of its own pitting the iOS-based 9.7-incher against the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9.
In addition to offering almost unusual savings on next-gen games for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Amazon has a couple of Cyber Monday treats for hardware buyers too, slashing the prices of two Kindle Fire tablets.
We all knew this was coming. And not a moment too soon, it has. The ink is barely dry on Apple’s press releases announcing the new iPad Air and iPad mini 2 and Cupertino’s rivals have already come out swinging to defend their own tablet bids.
Remember that report starring Amazon’s next line of Kindle Fire tablets which claimed at least two of these were to be powered by Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon 800 chip? Though unconfirmed, it had a distinct whiff of credibility and to this day it’s yet to be debunked.
So you think the new Nexus 7 is impressive, huh? After all, it sports a super-crisp display, runs the latest Android version, packs 2 GB RAM and weighs an incredible 290 grams. Plus, it’s dirt-cheap. But how about you hold off for a couple months before deciding to buy or skip it?
Seeing as Amazon unveiled the first Kindle Fire tab back in September 2011 and the fairly impressive trio of follow-ups one year later, it’s not exactly a stretch to assume we’re but a couple of months away from a few new exciting announcements.
