Though the Oppo N1, due out on December 10, is pretty innovative and visually striking, the true heir to Find 5’s throne and the top spot on the OEM’s totem pole has long been rumored to come after the N1 and get branded as the Find 7.
Oppo has made quite a few waves in the weeks leading up to the N1 formal intro, and now the buzz is back at heights, as the swiveling, camera-centric, CyanogenMod-running smartphone has a price tag and ETA attached to its name.
Instead of bringing to light yet another artificial spec buster unable to top the Android food chain for more than a few months, up-and-coming Chinese OEM Oppo has adopted a slightly different strategy for the N1, which is a road-opener in many ways, while in others… it’s fairly mediocre.
Cyanogen, darling of the Android ROM community, recently decided to commercialize to speed up development efforts and have indicated that they would be collaborating with a hardware vendor to showcase their OS. It looks like Oppo will be the first OEM on-board for Cyanogen.
For an OEM that’s not very much used to media attention or online buzz, Oppo sure knows how to build solid hype ahead of the N1 unveiling. And it does so aided by official marketing tools, such as the company’s Facebook, Google+ or YouTube accounts, which is even more commendable.
Oppo’s next flagship smartphone is set for an announcement next month, but leaked pictures and specs already paint a clear picture of what we can expect from the Chinese manufacturer.
