Toshiba is going after Asus, Google, HP and each and every player involved in the affordable tablet arena, moving the spotlight away from struggling high-end efforts and instead focusing on surprisingly solid, cheap new entries titled Excite Go and Encore 2.
So far focused solely on premium Android slates with extravagant price tags and more recently, tabs based on Windows 8.1, Toshiba has finally come out with a Nexus 7 2013 “killer” wannabe of its own, dubbed simply the Excite 7.
Two of the hottest Windows-powered new machines of the fall, Toshiba’s Encore and Lenovo’s Miix 2 8-inch tablets, are now available via Amazon. However, only the latter can be actually had already, whereas the former is only up for pre-orders.
Toshiba’s first generation of Excite tablets has been much better received than the Thrive line, so instead of the company once again starting from scratch, the Excite family has been refreshed a couple of weeks ago with three new models – Excite Pure, Pro and Write.
