What was expected to be known as the Wildfire C appears to have been given a last minute name change and should instead appear as the Desire C when it launches, potentially later this month. Pictures of the handset first appeared last week, but now more detailed information has appeared courtesy of Vodafone Portugal.

The Desire C isn't one of HTC's most exciting devices to date, as it sports a fairly small 3.5-inch display with 480×320 pixel resolution. It's also said to have what we can only call a sub-par 600MHz SoC by 2012 standards, especially as most of HTC's competitors manage to ship 1GHz chips in their competing models.

Other features include 4GB of storage, a 5Megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, A-GPS and HSDPA connectivity. Nothing that really makes it stand out from the competition as such, but it will at least be running Android 4.0.x when it arrives. It's also said to have a 1,230mAh battery and it should retail for less than €200 (US$260/S$325). Price wise it might be able to offer some competition, but we're not sure how much of a market there is for a half arsed budget handset like this, especially as the competition will get you more processing power for around the same cost.
