THQ has announced a wrestling revolution with WWE '13, promising “the most authentic, extensive and fervent experience to data,” with improvements to the commentary system and a single-player campaign based on the “Attitude Era” sparked by Stone Cold Steve Austin.

The major new feature of the game is WWE Live, an audio and presentation system that provides a more realistic experience of the wrestling phenomenon, with enhanced commentary, sound effects and crowd participation.

It wouldn't be WWE without some out of the ring action either, so WWE '13 will come with Spectacular Moments, such as ring breaks and barricade crashes, which will make the fights that bit more exciting.

Another highlight of the game will be its single-player campaign, based on the “Attitude Era,” otherwise known as the “Austin Era,” that began nearly 15 years ago with Stone Cold Steve Austin's rebellion. Players will get to relive this celebrated period of WWE history with eight characters from the era, including Sheamus, Undertaker, Mankind, Chris Jericho, Big Show, Mark Henry, and Stone Cold himself. Current WWE Champion CM Punk will also be on the list, along with other well-known Superstar wrestlers.

The game will take advantage of the Predator Technology 2.0 engine for new animations, transitions and modified controls. The game will feature a career-style mode, as well as WWE Universe, which will dynamically introduce matches, alliances, rivalries and unpredictable moments based on player decisions.

The WWE Creation Suite allows players to develop and customise their wrestlers, entrances, arenas, finishing moves, storylines, highlight reels and more, and these can be shared with other players around the world.

“WWE ’13 is certain to ignite our enthusiastic, worldwide fan base and encourage them to live a revolution that simply cannot be ignored,” said Sean Ratcliffe, VP of Global Brand Management at THQ. “WWE Live will bring the impassioned WWE live event experience into the living rooms of consumers, while critical core gameplay improvements and a serious dose of attitude will enable them to experience WWE action like never before.”

The game will launch on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii on 30 October in North America.
