THQ launches Darksiders II
THQ has launched Darksiders II, the sequel to the popular apocalyptic action-adventure game.
Gamers will not be reprising their role as War, but rather will take on the role of Death, one of the other Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. The story will involve Death trying to clear War's name after he was wrongly accused of starting the End of Days in the first game. The fact that there are two more Horsemen, Famine and Pestilence, suggests we might get two more sequels before this storyline is complete.
The game is close to four times the size of the original, features faster gameplay, complex skill trees, and a new loot system, offering considerable customisation options for characters.
“Darksiders II goes over the top with an incredible, sprawling experience for fans of action-adventure games,” said Jason Rubin, President of THQ. “By combining customizable role-playing game elements with intense combat and vast worlds to explore, THQ’s Vigil Games has created a masterpiece that’s packed with replayability, featuring all new combos, weapons and play styles for fans to enjoy.”
The game is available on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The PC version retails for $49.99, while the console version sells for $59.99. A Wii U version will be made available later this year to coincide with the launch of that platform.
