Toshiba Singapore e-invite hints of an Android notebook PC

Today, Toshiba Singapore sent out an e-invite to the media of a press event next week. The e-invite shows a picture of a familiar green Android robot which hints of a new product running the Google mobile operating system.

This year is Toshiba's 25th anniversary in mobile computing business and the company has launched the Libretto W100 mini-notebook PC with dual touchscreens and Portege R700 laptop in June.

This afternoon, Toshiba Singapore sent out an e-invite for an event next week, which also includes a picture of the green Android robot shown above - hinting of an Android mobile device. Looking at the top right hand corner are the words "Smart Book".

Putting two and two together, we believe that Toshiba is going to launching the Android-based Smart Book AC100. We don't have the all the information yet - specifications or pricing - but word from the manufacturer is that it will be running Android 2.2 (Froyo) and should be available in Singapore from next Tuesday.
