Toshiba unleashes NB500 series netbooks

Despite the increasing popularity of tablet devices, the netbooks aren't going away anytime soon. For Japanese maker Toshiba, it has announced its new NB500 series that come in five fanciful colors, and also the NB520 model which is equipped with premium Harmon Kardon speakers. (Not a common sight for netbooks with quality speakers).

Toshiba unleashes NB500 series netbooks

SINGAPORE, 14th December 2010 – Toshiba's Singapore Computer Systems Division (CSD), a division of Toshiba Singapore, has unveiled two new models of its netbook family: the NB505 and the NB520, targeting at users who want a slim and stylish netbook with enhanced sound features.

The NB520 series offers the world's first netbook with embedded premium speakers from Harman/Kardon, extending a superb entertainment experience with vibrant sound. Both the NB505 and NB520 series will be available during the first quarter of 2011 throughout South and South East Asia.

Vibrant bass and crystal clear trebles
Despite its compact design, the NB520 packs a powerful sonic punch with its 2W Harman/Kardon stereo speakers, providing superb audio volume and quality. They support Dolby Advanced Audio for a natural sound experience during music listening or watching movies in high-definition quality (720p) on the netbook. Coupled with the Sleep and Music feature, you can connect your gadget to the netbook and listen to your music through the Harman/Kardon speakers without requiring the PC to be turned on.

The NB505 series offers users everyday computing needs. It is designed for users who are looking for a slim, mobile device with basic computing features at an affordable price. The NB505 claims to be one of the thinnest and lightest netbooks on the market featuring an Intel Atom dual-core processor.

Pleasing to all senses
Both the NB505's and NB520 offer five fresh color variations - Warm Brown, Joyful Blue, Striking Lime Green, Daring Sunlight Copper, Sophisticated Turquoise.

Easy Connectivity and Usability
The NB500 series features three USB ports, integrated webcam, and Bluetooth V3.0 which offers up to 8x faster data transfer. The NB520 series also comes with USB Sleep-and-Charge feature whereby users can charge their electronic devices without turning the PC on.

Toshiba's exclusive value-added software tools like the Toshiba Reel Time and Toshiba Bulletin Board are also pre-installed in the NB500 series. These interfaces help users to locate recent files easily and the latter allows them to customize and manage their daily activities. To top it off, it features Power-Saving Eco-Utility software which helps to lower power consumption and conserve battery life.

Pricing starts from S$599 with GST (depending on configurations), more new offerings will be available later next month.
