Transmeta announced two reference platforms to speed the
development of new innovative computing designs based upon Transmeta’s
Efficeon(TM) and Crusoe® families of processors. The Transmeta Efficeon TM8600
System Development Kit is a high-performance reference platform ideally suited
to give customers a head start on their designs with the new Transmeta Efficeon
TM8600 processor. The Efficeon System Development Kit features NVIDIA’s nForce3
Pro 250 Gb chipset that combines a number of advanced technologies, including
Serial ATA, AGP 8x and Gigabit Ethernet, providing the performance and
attributes required to run state of the art applications connected to the latest
in high performance devices. The new Crusoe TM5900 System Development Kit,
offered in a low power, fanless, 4-layer mini-ITX form factor, implements all
the functions of a versatile PC system, including on-board video/graphics,
audio, Ethernet and thermal monitor. System memory is provided with a standard
memory slot for DDR DIMM modules. Other advanced features include USB 2.0 ports,
an IrDA interface, S-Video output and a digital S/PDIF audio output. The Phoenix
BIOS used with the TM5900 Mini-ITX motherboard facilitates easy system
configuration and peripheral setup.

System Development Kit is a high-performance reference platform ideally suited
to give customers a head start on their designs with the new Transmeta Efficeon
TM8600 processor. Characterized by high performance and responsiveness coupled
with low power consumption and reduced heat dissipation, the Efficeon processor
is suited for a variety of multi-media intensive and energy efficient
applications, including notebook PCs, Tablet PCs, silent desktop PCs, high
performance embedded devices, blade PCs and servers, and many other consumer and
enterprise devices.

The Transmeta Crusoe TM5900 System Development Kit is a
cost-effective platform designed around the next-generation Crusoe model TM5900
processor, which is offered in a compact 21mm x 21mm package. This new packaging
delivers system designers the ability to have full x86-compatible processing in
the most space sensitive, low power applications. This small form factor makes
it ideal for the next generation of ultra-personal computers (UPCs), thin
clients, web tablets, industrial control applications, point-of-sale terminals,
portable consumer devices, set top boxes and many other general embedded
applications.

Both of these high-performance and low power platforms come
with schematics, design guides, processor specifications, device drivers and all
other requirements for evaluation and initiating product designs. Both the
Efficeon and Crusoe System Development Kits feature the advanced power and
thermal management capabilities of Transmeta’s LongRun® technology. Both
development kits will be available to customers in Q1 2004.
