Triplex has unveiled their GeForce 6200A card equipped with GDDR3 memories
where it touted to improve performance by much. TRIPLEX releases DDR3 in 6200A
around USD 100 for retail price, means to lead users step
into the mainstream of VGA card and offer performance to customers.
Under 1024×768 32bit color of 3DMARK 03, the default 6200A DDR3 gets more 45%
than 9550 and more 55% than DDR1, and less only 10% difference with 6200AGP.
6200A DDR3 gets more 50% than DDR1, and less merely 4% difference with 6200AGP
in 3DMark05.

Triplex Testing Report

As we know the hot topic of VGA card is when dynastic changes from AGP to PCI
Express bus? Due to the high price of CPU and all the chipsets of PCI Express
are not yet ready, the population of PCI Express is still low, so the mainstream
of VGA card will be AGP. Thus another topic occurs that the highest level
chipset of AGP in VGA card, nVIDIA 6200A v. s. ATi 9550. 6200A set between value
and mainstream rank, taking NV44A as chipset seems mean to fight against ATi
9550. After being redeveloped, TRIPLEX releases the Standard and Over clocking
version of 6200A DDR3. Will the test result be answer of these questions?

It’s easy to beat 9550 for 6600 taking NV43 as chipset. Don’t forget positioning
of 6600, though it’s performance destined over 9550. There’s no need to do this.
Believe it that if only 6200A DDR3 can accomplish this mission! DDR3 solve
there’s merely 64bit memory bus of 6200A, the goal maybe being the terminator of
AGP.

64BIT MEMORY BUS
The problem of 6200A obviously is only within 64 bit memory bandwidth. Compared
with the 128 bit standard specification of VGA at present, no wonder people feel
that it’s disappointing performance. Though nVIDIA thought the bridge between
VGA and PCI Express, the cost of redeveloping 6600 PCI Express to AGP still too
high. Plan B is 6200A. But the most important issue is to improve the problem of
memory bus 64bit only. As redevelopment happen between manufacturers, TRIPLEX
releases DDR3 in 6200A around USD 100 for retail price, means to lead users step
into the mainstream of VGA card and offer performance to customers.
 

BEFORE OVER CLOCKING
Under 1024×768 32bit color of 3DMARK 03, the default 6200A DDR3 gets more45%
than 9550 and more 55% than DDR1, and less only 10% difference with 6200AGP.
Let’s check under 1024×768 32bit color of 3DMARK 05, 6200A DDR3 gets more 50%
than DDR1, and less merely 4% difference with 6200AGP.

AFTER OVER CLOCKING
After over clocking, we get more 6%~8% score to the default 6200A DDR3 in 3DMARK
03 and 3DMARK 05. More surprise are, in 3DMARK 03 there’s merely 4% difference
with 6200A AGP and win 4% to 6200A AGP in 3DMARK 05. That’s really
appreciative!! Why? Cause there’s competition of price between 6200A DDR3 and
6200 DDR1. Not to mention 6200A DDR3 v.s. 9550.

At booth of Computex Taipei 2005, TRIPLEX received lots of inquire and interest
of 6200A DDR3 from buyers. With the test result, we believe that capture more
sharing for nVIDIA in graphic card market. Also welcome the fight back from ATi
against nVIDIA! Will DDR2 or DDR3 collocate with 9550?
