..Or at least, that is what Lenovo claims it is supposed to mean. The Chinese OEM has just announced some new additions to its U-series line of ultraportable notebooks targeted at users who want to make their computing experience a little more ‘fun’. And with Christmas coming right up, it might not be a bad idea to invest in some ‘fun’.

The demand for greater mobility while computing on the move is a never-ending struggle as OEMs constantly attempt to outdo their competitors by offering thinner notebooks without skimping on performance and battery life. And with consumers driving the demand for notebooks which are now so thin they make mainstream laptops look like ancient, overweight bricks, OEMs have become hard-pressed to offer consumers more than just physical dimensions.

The result? Win the consumers with chic, elegant designs and eye-catching colours. Which is clearly what Lenovo has gone and done with its new U-series of IdeaPad notebooks, which promise to make computing more fun for the average consumer.

In addition to its physical dimensions, Lenovo also claims that the U260 is designed for “the fashionista in everyone”: the notebook’s outer shell comprises of “premium materials”, while the palmrest area is leather-patterned and a glass trackpad completes the overall elegant look-and-feel of the notebook.

The hardware is anything but slim though: the CPU powering the U260 hails from low-voltage Intel Core iX series, with users having a choice of having up to an i7 processor. In addition, Lenovo is also offering consumers a choice of either a 320GB hard disk or a 128GB SSD for faster data access. Last but not least, the U260 is also bundled with 4GB of memory (DDR3), so the U-260 is a notebook that has both the looks and brawn needed to attract consumers.

However, unlike most notebooks available in the market today, the U-165 ditches the widely-used Intel processors in favor of chips from AMD instead, with a single-core AMD Turion II Neo processor providing the U165 with its processing power.
