Ubisoft teams up with Sony to adapt Watch Dogs into a feature length film
Ubisoft’s hot new IP Watch Dogs looks to be one of the major high-profile releases of the year: with its incredibly defined open-world centered on a high-tech rendition of Chicago, players use protagonist Aiden Pearce’s stealth mastery and technological prowess to hack into virtually everything in the city and use it to his own tactical advantage.
Doesn’t that sound like a good movie premise?
Ubisoft and Sony both think so; at Gamescom, Ubisoft announced an official partnership with Sony and New Regency to bring Aiden Pearce to the big screen and adapt the developer/publisher’s innovative new IP into a feature film.
“Sony Pictures and New Regency are ideal partners for us,” said Jean-Julien Baronnet, CEO of Ubisoft Motion Pictures.
“Their deep production expertise and willingness to allow us to maintain a strong creative voice in the film means that we’re on track to deliver a movie that can build upon the excitement that Watch Dogs already is generating as a game.”
To date, Watch Dogs has amassed acclaim throughout the gaming sphere, and is being hailed as one of the most anticipated titles of the year.
Watch Dogs is slated for a release on Nov. 19, 2013 for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC. For more information please visit the game’s official website.
