The chipsets would be installed on over 30 motherboards respectively coming from manufacturers including Albatron, ASUS, Epox, ECS, Giga-Byte, MSI, DFI, Jetway and Fujitsu. AMD said 690G chipset is 20% more efficient and 10% less expensive than Intel`s G965 chipset when working with Athlon X2 vs Intel`s E6400 Core 2 Duo processor. While AMD has decided to contract UMC to build its latest chipsets, the AMD is reported to farm out production of its Fusion microprocessors to TSMC. AMD plans to introduce the microprocessors embedded with graphics functionality in 2008 and 2009. Fusion chips are likely to use TSMC`s 45-nm or 65-nm process.
