Valve has just announced a closed beta release of its Steam application for both iOS or Android devices. At this time the app lets gamers across the globe chat with Steam friends as well as being able to browse community groups, user profiles, screenshots and user-generated content for their favorite titles.

It also keeps you in the loop while on the go in terms of all the regular deals Steam has going for game purchases and of course the latest gaming news.

Gabe Newell, co-founder and president of Valve said, "The Steam app comes from many direct requests from our customers. Seeing which of your friends are online and playing a game, sending quick messages, looking at screenshots for an upcoming game, or catching a sale - these are all features customers have requested. Mobile is changing way people interact, play games and consume media, and the Steam app is part of our commitment to meet customer demands and expand the service functionality of Steam to make it richer and more accessible for everyone".

In order to get in on the mobile Steam action, you just need to grab the Steam app for your iOS or Android device, which is of course free of charge, then log into your Steam account via the app to express your interest in the beta. As the service gathers some real momentum, more and more Gamers will be added.
