The invite, the IPhone seems to be a big deal to Verizon

Verizon definitely generated a lot of news and media exposure for its product lineup in the CES 2011 which is in its final hours at press time. Having said that, when Verizon hands you an invitation for an event just days after such a large-scale media blitz, you just know that they has something else up their sleeves.

This upcoming press conference is no small event, being held at a swanky location — New York’s Lincoln Center is where the ballet and opera call home. Further confirming the speculation just an hour after the invites got into the wild — Verizon had originally requested that this invite be kept private, but here we are joining millions around the world, looking at it, Wall Street Journal confirms the rumors citing “a person familiar with the matter.” The WSJ has a solid history of credibility and isn’t prone to confirming without good sources, so it seems a sure thing at this point.

While a CDMA Verizon IPhone might not be of any concern to GSM users, the scale of the event fuels speculation that the Verizon IPhone might not be just a CDMA version of the IPhone 4. Everyone will be keeping their eyes open for any hardware, features and design updates, anything which might give us a glimpse of what the IPhone 4′s successor will feature.
