VIA powered Zotac ZBOX nano appear in Japan

After having seen Zotac's dual core VIA Nano X2 powered ZBOX nano at Computex back in June, we were surprised when the company launched an AMD E-350 powered model instead of the VIA mode, but lo and behold, the VIA version has arrived, well, at least in Japan. We have as yet to see an official announcement from Zotac, but we're sure this will come in due time.

The size hasn't changed, so we're still looking at a 127x127x45mm cube, although the internals have of course changed quite a bit. A minor cosmetic change includes a yellow circle, instead of a green one on the AMD powered model. Around the front, we're looking at an identical setup as well with a memory card reader, a pair of audio jacks and an IR receiver.

There doesn't appear to have been any changes made to the rear either, as here we find a DisplayPort, and HDMI port, two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, an Ethernet jack, an eSATA port and the Wi-Fi antenna. Internally things are quite different though, as here we find VIA's Nano X2 U4025 dual core CPU which is clocked at 1.2GHz with an 18W TDP. It's been paired up with the VIA VX900H chipset, although we couldn't find any reference to this specific model, nor the CPU model on VIA's website.

A single SO-DIMM will accept up to 4GB of DDR3 memory and there's of course space for a 2.5-inch drive. It also sports 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 and just like with the AMD model, you get an external IR receiver, a remote control and a VESA mounting plate in the box. The VIA powered model goes under the name of ZBOX nano-VD01 and it's expected to hit retail in Japan later this month for somewhere around 10,000 Yen (S$162/US$130), although exact pricing has as yet not been confirmed.
