Are you one of the "many" VLC Media Player fans out there? – You may like to know that the VideoLAN team have just released the final version 2.0 build of this terrific open source media player for all to download.

This is considered a major update of the software with there being a kaboodle of updates and inclusions. Alongside several UI adjustments (particularly for the Mac version) and a whole mass of bug fixes, decoding performance is said to be significantly improved on multi-core processors, GPUs and other mobile hardware as well as there being a bunch of new filters included, support for 10-bit codecs and some subtitle improvements.

Another bold addition (although only in 'experimental' form for now) is that this is the first version of VLC to provide support for Blu-ray playback.
