For those that already own a MacBook Pro with Retina Display (HiDPI), VLC 2.0.2 is now available for enhanced experience on devices with Retina Displays.

For those that already own a MacBook Pro with Retina Display (HiDPI), VLC 2.0.2 is now available for enhanced experience on devices with Retina Displays.

Furthermore, the annoying font caching requirement is eliminated in the update so you’ll never have to wait for the cache to finish building before a video starts. 

For those that are on PowerPC Macs with ATI Radeon 7500/9200, NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Ultra, or Intel GMA 950 the update also means “video output improvements.” 

There are a variety of other improvements and fixes in VLC 2.0.2, but there are no official ETA on a Windows 64 bit package just yet.  There is an experimental Windows 64 bits VLC installer, but the official release for Windows only has the 32 bits installer for now.   Check out the official release page for full details on the VLC 2.0.2 update.
