VR-Zone Exclusive: Gainward GeForce GTX 580 Phantom 3072MB Review
There is no mesh covering the front of the GeForce GTX 580 Phantom’s heatsink. Air gets pulled through the fins unobstructed, which translates to better cooling.
Gainward has employed six rather thick heat pipes to conduct heat away from the heatsink base rapidly.
Over here, we can see the three 80mm fans sandwitched in between.
Similar to the reference NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580, this card requires two PCI Express power connectors – one 6-pin and one 8-pin.
Again similar to the reference card, the GeForce GTX 580 Phantom supports both 2-way and 3-way SLI configurations.
Four spring-loaded screws are used to secure the cooler around the GPU, while normal Phillips screws are used for the rest of the unit.
